COAH Scientific Seminar – February 2, 2026

Leaders from the Gerontological Society of America will present at the next COAH Scientific Seminar on Monday, February 2, 2026 from 3:30pm – 5:00pm.  The seminar will take place in the Powe Room, 1-500Q at 2024 E. A student lunch and poster session are being planned for 12 p.m. that day in the 2024 E. Monument Street Building.

Shari M. Ling, MD is Deputy Chief Medical Officer at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) serving in the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality (CCSQ).  Dr. Ling’s focus is on meaningful health outcomes through high quality care with a special interest in persons with multiple chronic conditions and functional limitations and reducing health disparities.  Dr. Ling will present Evolving toward High Value Care on Monday, December 1 from 3:30pm – 5:00pm.  The seminar will take place in the Powe Room, 1-500Q at 2024 E. COAH Seminar: Investigating determinants and timely diagnosis of dementia using Medicare claims linked to cohort data

The first COAH seminar of the 2025-2026 academic year will take place on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 3:30pm with a presentation by Bryan James, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Community Epidemiologic Research, at Rush University Medical Center, and an epidemiologist at the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center. His seminar title is: “Investigating determinants and timely diagnosis of dementia using Medicare claims linked to cohort data.”

COAH Seminars are held in the Powe Room (1-500Q, 2024 E. Monument St. building), with a virtual option.
